Make plans to participate in ASCA’s 2023 Salary & Benefits Survey, which will be open the entire month of June. This survey collects national, regional and state data on 20+ ASC positions and is a vital tool that assists ASCs in attracting and retaining the best employees.

The survey is open to all ASCs, and there is no cost to participate. Both ASCA members and nonmembers who complete at least 40 percent of the survey will receive personalized results for free.

Beginning June 1, 2023, insurer UnitedHealthcare (UHC) will require providers to seek authorization before performing almost all upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy, colonoscopy and capsule endoscopy procedures. This prior authorization policy includes four of the top five codes by volume performed in ASCs and would drastically affect the operations of many surgery centers that perform GI procedures. On April 26, ASCA released the latest installment of the 60-Second Survey, a bimonthly survey series meant to take the pulse of the ASC community on current issues. The April survey asked questions regarding the use of electronic health record (EHR) products in ASCs. ASCA received 354 responses in 10 days—one of the highest levels of participation in the two-year history of the 60-Second Survey.

Prompt detection of colorectal cancer under age 50 (early-onset CRC) is a clinical priority due to its alarming rise.
