Last week, ASCA released the latest 60-Second Survey on electronic health record (EHR) technology. For this survey, ASCA is interested in your thoughts on EHRs. Whether your facility is using an EHR or not, your feedback is important!

Earlier in April, 90210 Surgery Medical Center in Beverly Hills, California, hosted a facility tour for the staff of Representative Ted Lieu (D-CA). The conversation allowed the facility to discuss surgery centers with the congressman’s staff and the importance of supporting the Outpatient Surgery Quality and Access Act of 2023. On April 26, ASCA staff attended a US House Committee on Energy & Commerce Health Subcommittee legislative hearing titled “Lowering Unaffordable Costs: Legislative Solutions to Increase Transparency and Competition in Health Care.”

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure testified at her first appearance before Congress since her confirmation in 2021. The bipartisan hearing discussed legislative proposals aimed at increasing transparency and competition and lowering healthcare costs.

Staff Vaccination Requirements: CMS will soon end the requirement that covered providers and suppliers establish policies and procedures for staff vaccination. CMS will share more details regarding ending this requirement at the anticipated end of the public health emergency.

A coalition of experts in a newly published report found that the U.S. health care system was uniquely disadvantaged when it came to handling the COVID-19 pandemic, concluding the system was too divided, outdated and disorganized to efficiently take on the crisis. The COVID Crisis Group, an organization formed in 2021 to map the landscape of the pandemic, published its report “Lessons from the Covid War: An Investigative Report” this week, laying out a retrospective analysis of the outbreak.
