CMS issued an FAQ document about the suspension of survey activity for certain non-emergency state survey inspections due to COVID-19 and what it means for state surveyors, healthcare facilities, patients, caregivers and accrediting organizations.
This CMS memo to state survey agency directors announces the immediate suspension of non-emergency inspections to allow inspectors to focus on the most serious health and safety threats, such as COVID-19, and provides guidelines for the inspection process in situations when COVID-19 cases are suspected.
