ASCA HIGHLIGHTS

ASCs should have acted earlier this year to comply with several new provisions in the No Surprises Act, such as disclosures of patient protections, notice and consent for balance billing, and good faith estimates (GFEs) for uninsured or self-pay patients.

ASCA’s new webinar, No Surprises Act: Recapping the First Year and Preparing for the Future, will review the requirements for ASCs, look back at the first year of the new requirements and give information on what ASCs need to be aware of to stay in compliance in 2023 and beyond. This program is scheduled for Tuesday, November 15, at 1:00 pm ET.

This webinar is free for ASCA members and $50 for nonmembers. Continuing education will not be offered.

The COVID-19 vaccination and testing requirements for healthcare workers in Illinois expired on October 14. Governor J.B. Pritzker issued an executive order on that day to reissue and extend previously issued COVID-19 executive orders, but he did not extend the healthcare worker vaccination and testing requirements established by another executive order in September 2021. To date, Colorado and Illinois are the only two states that have ended their vaccination mandates. Read this Digital Debut for more information.

For weeks, Congress has suggested that it will consider various measures in larger consolidated spending legislation, referred to as an omnibus package. With the House expected to flip from a Democratic to Republican majority, most staff believe that the final package will be very clean or “skinny,” meaning there will not be a lot of room for the inclusion of smaller appropriations requests.
