Cyberattacks on the healthcare industry have brought hospitals, clinics and other providers to a breaking point, researchers said on Friday. “These are patient safety issues, and yet these types of attacks continue to increase,” Christian Dameff, the co-director of the University of California San Diego’s Center for Healthcare Cybersecurity, said during a presentation at the DEF CON conference here.

This quality improvement project aimed to examine the influence of a fall risk protocol implementation in an Ambulatory Surgery Center on staff nurses’ compliance with fall prevention practices and knowledge of falls. The results demonstrated a high rate of staff nurse compliance with screening and implementation of fall prevention practices as part of the fall risk protocol.

In response to the recently released 2027 Medicare PFS proposed rule, your [American College of Cardiology] has developed a PFS calculator so clinicians and practice managers can estimate the potential impact of changes to their practices. A clinical trial by Yale School of Medicine’s Department of Anesthesiology reveals that a small dose of olanzapine, an inexpensive antipsychotic medication, could curb those symptoms.
