Severe storm damage inflicted by Hurricane Helene in North Carolina during September forced closure of a medical supply manufacturing facility there that has caused IV fluid shortages throughout the US. Baxter, the company that owns the facility, is taking steps to ameliorate the effects of the shortages. The federal government and others have joined in.
