On June 12, Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee signed HB 7127 into law, making Rhode Island the 25th member of the PA Licensure Compact. This officially brings the PA Licensure Compact to half the nation, a major achievement since the compact’s model language was finalized and states began introducing language in December 2022.

ASCA is looking for members to get a head start in participating in this year’s Member Appreciation Week, which takes place August 3-7. Regulators at the Green Mountain Care Board have greenlit a plan for a freestanding multi-specialty surgery center in Hartford, clearing the way for the Upper Valley Surgery Center to open up shop as soon as next year. Ambulatory surgery centers offer same-day surgeries and other types of care that don’t require hospitalization.

A brand new outpatient surgery center in Idaho Falls held a ribbon-cutting and open house on Friday to celebrate several months of low-cost surgeries. Officials said the Bonneville Surgery Center, 2001 S. Woodruff Ave., had been in the works for several years, and doctors began performing surgeries there earlier this year.
