The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the 2025 proposed payment rule for ASCs and hospital outpatient departments (HOPD) on July 10. Of note, CMS concurred with ASCA’s request and proposed to continue to align the ASC update factor with the one used to update HOPD payments through 2025. Read this Digital Debut to learn more.

In AMGA’s newly released 2024 Medical Group Compensation and Productivity Survey, medical groups and healthcare organizations report an increase in compensation of 3.6% for primary care specialties, 5.1% for medical specialties, 5.5% for surgical specialties, and 5.8% for radiology, anesthesiology and pathology specialties in 2023. Increases in primary care compensation have not been as significant this year as in 2021/22 when the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services updated E/M work RVU values, which led to notable increases in compensation indicated in the 2022 and 2023 surveys.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed House Bill 1339 into law on April 19, 2024. The Law revised existing provisions of the Georgia Certificate of Need statute. Among the more significant amendments to the Statute included in the Law are the following: Single Specialty and Joint Venture Ambulatory Surgery Centers.
