CMS requires ASCs to have "a licensed health care professional qualified through training in infection control and designated to direct the ASCs infection control program." What CMS doesn’t tell you is how to pick the right person for the job and define their responsibilities. This session will highlight key components of an ASC infection prevention (IP) program that are the responsibility of the infection preventionist. It will review the basics of an Infection Control Risk Assessment and how to incorporate the survey findings into your ASC’s IP plan. Participants will learn how to fully integrate infection control data into a multi-disciplinary approach to an effective Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement program.
