All jobs come with the potential for workplace stress and eventual burnout, but healthcare puts employees at particularly high risk. A 2021 survey found a 9 percent jump in employee burnout compared to pre-COVID numbers. Employee burnout is real and it’s affecting millions of workers worldwide. It’s essential that ASCs understand the impact burnout has on employee engagement and business results—and know the tools and strategies to reduce workplace burnout. Join this presentation to learn why burnout happens, how to recognize burnout and its consequences, the best way to handle burnout when it occurs and, ultimately, how to avoid burnout before it has a chance to begin.

Jan is currently the director of clinical education and clinical research for National Cardiovascular Partners, a provider of outpatient cardiovascular services. She is a certified healthcare safety professional and has been in the ASC industry since 1985, spending the past 15 years assisting hundreds of ASCs with accreditation and regulatory support. Jan has served on ambulatory advisory panels for AORN, The Joint Commission and the ASC Quality Collaboration; authored a book on compliance with The Joint Commission standards; and had several publications in AORN Journal. She has served as an expert speaker on numerous nationwide audio and live conferences on quality, regulatory and accreditation issues.
