ASCs save the Medicare program billions of dollars annually by serving as an alternative surgical site of service to more expensive settings. This session will review recent research funded by ASCA that updates previous cost savings analyses and explain how ASCA uses this information to enhance its advocacy efforts.

Alex Taira is ASCA’s associate director of public & regulatory affairs. In this role, he focuses on resolving questions about federal regulations affecting ASCs, such as physician payment updates and electronic health record regulation. Alex also manages ASCA’s efforts in identifying and publicizing academic and clinical research showing the value and quality of ASCs.
