Introduction to Finance and Accounting in ASCs

This session offers a practical guide to interpreting financial statements used in ASCs, including the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement. Attendees will learn how to evaluate common ASC financial transactions, calculate essential metrics and leverage meaningful benchmarks. Gain the tools and insights needed to analyze financial data effectively and make informed decisions to improve your ASC’s financial performance.

Demystifying Accounting and Finance

This session will focus on how to interpret various financial statements encountered at an ASC: the income statement, the balance sheet and the cash flow statement. Attendees will explore how various expenses—such as labor, supplies, maintenance, rent, interest and other operating costs—impact a center’s profitability. The session will also cover strategies for analyzing net revenue and explaining any fluctuations and will examine the differences between accrual-based and cash-based accounting methods and how each impacts the financial statements. Additionally, we will review the main tenets of preparing a budget and share practical tools for evaluating capital purchases and conducting a return on investment (ROI) analysis.
