9:10 am–10:10 am	9:10 am–10:10 am Pain Control Without Opioids OPIOID SESSION As Americans struggle to comprehend and deal with the challenges of managing perioperative and postoperative pain, health care professionals are actively investigating various complementary treatment plans and modalities that can prevent reliance on opioid analgesics and their related side effects. Anesthesiologists are spearheading various algorithmic approaches to managing both opioid-tolerant and opioid-naive patients. Plavin, MD Ambulatory Anesthesia Partners - Atlanta, Ga Stanford R. Plavin MD is a board certified practicing anesthesiologist who has over 20 years of clinical experience. In addition to co-authoring a number of publications, he continues to be active in clinical research as well as other academic and patient centered entrepreneurial activities. Over the last few years he has worked with two prominent corporate anesthesia groups providing not only clinical excellence and leadership but also engaging with key stakeholders to improve deliverables as well as implementing process improvement protocols. Dr. Plavin has extensive ASC, hospital, and office based practice experience and most recently is a founding member of Ambulatory Anesthesia Partners LLC, an anesthesia practice based in Atlanta, Georgia. He has also devoted himself to a number of charitable endeavors including being one of the co-founders of Preventingcolorectalcancer.org. He continues to be actively involved in the ASC community and maintains a board seat with ASCA.

Learn how to use the information you uncover to work with your ASC’s physicians to drive clinical and administrative improvement in your ASC. Join this interactive session to discuss methods of case costing, examples of successful programs, key data points to consider, integrating your ASC’s profit and loss statement into the process and different classifications of cases that affect cost. Gain a deeper understanding of the dynamic variables that lead to case costing success and discover techniques and new ideas you can use to make the process a wise investment in your ASC. 2:20 pm–3:50 pm	2:20 pm–3:50 pm Develop a Meaningful QAPI Program Using Internal and External Benchmarking Data Get the information and tools you need to develop a robust Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program that fosters and encourages participation from your ASC’s entire team. Review requirements and key terminology as both Medicare and the accrediting organizations define them; explore implementation challenges for both large and small facilities; and examine the focus and goals of a successful program. You will also learn how to implement a notification report tool that you can use to capture data while fostering full participation in the program. DiMarino, MSN, RN, CNOR, CASC Mid Atlantic Surgery Pavilion Tina DiMarino graduated Summa Cum Laude from the College of Notre Dame with her BSN and went on to earn her Master of Science degree in Nursing with a focus in Leadership in Nursing administration. Tina is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Executive Leadership at George Washington University. Tina DiMarno has worked in the ambulatory surgical setting for 19 years serving the last 16 year as administrator. She holds certifications as a Certified Operating Room Nurse (CNOR) and as a Certified Ambulatory Surgery Center Administrator (CASC). She is also an ASC consultant developing and managing centers nationwide. Tina DiMarino is a board member of the Maryland Ambulatory Surgery Association. Debra L. Stinchcomb, MBA, BSN, RN, CASC Progressive Surgical Solutions Debra Stinchcomb has 30 years of health care experience including development, clinical, administrative, operations and sales. The last 20 years have been focused exclusively in the ASC industry. Her responsibilities have included budget development/management, revenue/expense management, contract negotiation, licensing/certification/accreditation compliance, marketing, risk management, quality improvement and benchmarking. Debra is a Registered Nurse having received her BSN and MBA. She is the founder/past President of Arkansas Ambulatory Surgery Association and has served nationally as a past board member of FASA and the ASC Association. She is currently the President of the Arkansas Ambulatory Surgery Association. She received her CASC credential in 2002. Debra was an AAAHC surveyor 2001 - 2007 and is Past Chair of the Ambulatory Joint Commission Professional and Technical Advisory Committee. Debra is Chair of the Quality Committee of ASCA.

Strong physician leadership has long been associated with both business and clinical success, and effective physician leadership is a critical success factor in today’s challenging health care environment. Find meaningful ways to actively engage the physicians in your ASC in supporting new physician recruitment initiatives that help build depth in your ASC’s operational and clinical leadership talent. ABISA is an independent healthcare consultancy specializing in healthcare strategy, physician engagement, and strategic growth initiatives. Nick has extensive knowledge on matters surrounding physician engagement and has a long history of working with physician entrepreneurs. He is Board Certified in Healthcare Management and has been named a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

To receive credit, you must complete an evaluation for each session through the ASCA 2019 Continuing Education Portal by June 30, 2019.
