How Anesthesia Can Help Transform Your ASC

ASC Administrators are increasingly challenged to thrive in today's value-based healthcare environment. Confronting issues such as staffing, case migration, reporting, new surgical techniques, sicker patients, more complex procedures, less predictable schedules, uneven room optimization and other stressors, ASCs need an anesthesia partner who is aligned with their vision, goals and values. A strong partner must have the scale and resources to provide a fluid, skilled and talented workforce, improve operating room efficiencies, provide meaningful quality data, promote patient safety, create a collaborative culture, increase surgeon and patient satisfaction, and offer customized solutions to help position the facility for growth. With a focus on staffing and quality, this session will discuss what ASCs should expect from their anesthesia provider and how the right anesthesia partnership helps ASCs succeed in this dynamic healthcare market.

To mitigate financial risks and maximize cash flow, ASCs must negotiate payer contracts that ensure proper implant reimbursement and review and streamline their revenue cycle management (RCM) processes. Participate in this session to hear industry experts share tips for negotiating solid payer contracts, discuss key RCM processes to review and discover overall best practices for securing reimbursements for implants.

Conversations about Mentoring

Mentors can make the difference in a mentee’s professional growth and impact their organization’s overall success in recruitment and retention. This session will highlight best practices for mentor and mentee partnerships while sharing stories about ways some of today’s most successful leaders were influenced by their mentors during their career. It will also explore the importance of mentor selection, candid conversations, formal and informal mentorship programs, and the value that a strong mentorship can provide in today’s challenging talent acquisition market.

Case Costing: Step by Step

Take a deep dive into all aspects of case costing your key procedures so you can negotiate better contracts and boost your bottom line. Start by identifying your center's top cases, then determine the reimbursement by payer. Next, review your labor and billing costs and list examples of expected costs for key supplies frequently used by the physicians who perform those procedures. As a bonus, this session will examine ways to automate your case costing process using your management software so you can streamline the review of your case costs and case margins by payer and physician.

Leveraging Innovative Technology to Maximize the Patient Experience, Improve Operational Efficiencies and Increase Revenue

Ambulatory Surgery Centers are under increasing scrutiny from governing bodies to provide top-notch patient experiences and satisfaction. The Value Based Purchasing (VBP) program has imposed financial sanctions on underperforming hospital facilities creating financial burdens on already razor-thin profit margins. Although it has not yet been implemented for ASCs, the Affordable Care Act required the establishment of a VBP as well. Fortunately, innovative technology has allowed centers to not only cater to a more discriminating healthcare consumer, but improve patient intake, real-time procedural communication, early recovery after surgery, and management/recovery of poor patient experiences. Learn why ASCs can't afford to overlook the patient experience with evolving compensation models and how centers using health tech are winning.

This session does not provide continuing education credits.
