National Advocacy Day

February 2628, 2024 | Washington, DC

2024 National Advocacy Day

ASCA’s National Advocacy Day program gathers participants from across the country to meet and build relationships with policymakers who make decisions that directly impact the ASC community and their patients. It is an excellent opportunity to meet face-to-face with your members of Congress and their staff to educate them about the many benefits ASCs offer and issues currently impacting their ability to provide care.

ASCA schedules a full day of congressional meetings on Capitol Hill for each participant. In addition, ASCA provides a training briefing for all attendees to explain crucial ASC legislation, the Outpatient Surgery Quality and Access Act of 2023, and how to conduct a successful congressional meeting. While ASCA advocates year-round for ASC interests, National Advocacy Day provides a great opportunity to help impact change.

Contact Maia Kunkel at mkunkel@ascassociation.org with any questions.

If you have not participated in one of ASCA’s fly-in events, I encourage you to do so in the future. Actively speaking with congressional offices on legislation and sharing positive patient stories about the incredible work ASCs are doing will help our industry. Let’s make sure that our elected officials know about the care we provide and the impact of ASCs on our patients and communities.

ASCs need a seat at the table. From a legislative perspective, if we haven’t tried to advocate on behalf of ASCs, then we can’t complain when things don’t go in our favor.
—Akshay Tavkar, Senior Director, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic ASC, Houston, TX
ASCA’s National Advocacy Day was a great experience! ASCA was well organized; the education and preparation made the advocacy participation both enjoyable and successful. When I returned to Southern Illinois, both my ASC board and the surgeons were appreciative. If given the opportunity, I would definitely participate again in the future. I’m not a salesperson, but I can definitely speak with knowledge and passion about healthcare delivery from the ASC perspective!
