Special EventsCharity Event in San AntonioWednesday, May 14th ASCs Giving Back to San AntonioContinuing a tradition started in New Orleans last year, we are encouraging everyone at this meeting to donate their time and talents to make a hands-on contribution to San Antonio. This year we will be helping injured soldiers and their families, who are current residents of the Fisher Houses, homes where the families of active duty or retired service members stay temporarily to be close to their loved ones while he or she is being treated at the nearby Brooke Army Medical Center. Volunteer in the morning to do yard work that will beautify the grounds surrounding the Fisher Houses. During the afternoon shift, volunteers will serve up a Texas BBQ for the injured soldiers and their families. Just bring yourself and your spirit; we will provide everything else you’ll need to make a difference for the brave men and women who have given so much for our country. Those who can’t participate in either shift, can contribute to the project by bringing a gift card or telephone calling card to the registration desk in San Antonio to be given to soldiers and their families. Demonstrate the community spirit of ASCs by participating in this volunteer project. ASC Celebration LuncheonFriday, May 16th Celebrating the new ASC Association and ASC professionals everywhere, this ASC Celebration Luncheon will recognize the history of both AAASC and FASA — the two most influential ASC associations in the US today, which are joining together to form the new ASC Association that will provide a unified voice for the industry. The luncheon will acquaint attendees with the contributions each organization has made to the success of our industry in the past, recognize some important personal achievements ASC professionals have made this year and provide a one-of-a-kind networking opportunity amidst an event expected to be the largest gathering of ASC professionals in the history of the industry. ![]() Comedy with a Bite Take a break from the educational sessions with entertainment by Chicago stand-up comic, Greg Schwem. His fast-paced humor pokes fun at the crazy high-tech world we live in. Laugh along as Schwem jokes about computers, voicemail and how acronyms are taking over the language. His observations of our work environments and fast-paced lives will have you laughing during lunch and every time technology rears its head in your daily routines for a long time to come. CASC Recipients Recognized Those credentialed in 2007 will be recognized for their accomplishment, dedication and commitment to the highest standards for ASCs. Poster Presentation Winners Announced Those poster presentations voted as most innovative, creative and applicable to ASC professionals will be announced and the presenters honored at the luncheon. Red Hot FiestaFriday, May 16th Wear something red, slip into your hottest pair of dancing shoes and prepare for an evening to remember: the ASCs 2008 Red Hot Fiesta. With margaritas flowing, a traditional fiesta feast, live music, a mechanical bull for the daring and dance lessons for those who are feeling timid about their salsa and two-step moves, this evening promises to be a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll and a dancing, dining and networking extravaganza like no other. At UTSA's Institute of Texan Cultures, the site of this ASC fiesta, you will be able to soak up some Texas traditions and history as you visit the exhibits that fill this 50,000-square-foot museum dedicated to everything Texas. Come on out and join us for the ASC party of the year! |
