Interested in becoming CASC (Certified Administrator Surgery Center) certified? If you are planning to take the CASC exam, or just want a review of the key areas of ASC administration, this course is for you. Designed for those with ASC experience and knowledge, this course will review key topics in the five content areas of the CASC exam: regulatory and legal issues, finance, delivery of patient care, quality management and human resources. Achieving and Maintaining Life Safety Code Compliance (1:00pm-5:00pm)
Protect yourself from over-zealous surveyors and under-performing design professionals. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) holds every ASC directly responsible for complete and continuous compliance with the Physical Environment Requirements found in the CMS State Operations Manual and CMS-referenced National Fire Protection Association standards tied to the Life Safety Code, regardless of prior approval. HR Issues in the ASC (1:00pm-5:00pm)
In this four-hour, interactive workshop, Marcus Crider, a partner with the Waller law firm, will cover a variety of employment law and human resources (HR) issues common to ASCs. Engage with Crider and fellow attendees in lively discussions about critical issues, such as using social media safely and effectively; conducting effective workplace investigations; dealing with co-worker or supervisor harassment; managing the problem employee; getting buy-in from your supervisors; untangling the ADA/FMLA/workers’ compensation web; and avoiding common wage and hour pitfalls. In the final portion of the program, Crider will moderate a panel discussion of HR professionals from leading ASC companies. This discussion will provide real-life examples and advice on how to take on and avoid the most difficult HR and employment law problems.
