The Safety Program for Ambulatory Surgery was a four-year project funded and guided by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and conducted by the Health Research & Educational Trust (HRET), along with other partners including ASCA and the ASC Quality Collaboration. This collaborative project focused on reducing HAIs and other surgical complications in ASCs by applying the Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program (CUSP). This program, which was conducted in 665 ASCs across the country, was the first of its kind to focus on the national implementation of a quality improvement intervention within the ASC setting. This toolkit is based on the experience of those who participated in the project.
