ASCA members are invited to apply for Medical Mission Scholarships provided through the ASCA Foundation’s partnership with One World Surgery. Each scholarship covers One World Surgery’s medical mission program fee and round-trip airfare for the participant.
One World Surgery is recruiting nurses and surgical/scrub techs for several upcoming trips to the Holy Family Surgery Center in Honduras, including:

"Hip and knee arthroplasties improve the quality of life for patients who receive elective surgery," Hannah M. Wolford, MSPH, and colleagues from the CDC's Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion wrote in Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology.

AMA Releases 2019 CPT Code Set AMA News Release (09/05/18) The American Medical Association today announced the release of the 2019 Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code set. There are 335 code changes in the new CPT edition reflecting the CPT Editorial Panel and the health care community’s combined annual effort to capture and describe the latest scientific and technological advances in medical, surgical and diagnostic services.
Physician Burnout Associated With Poorer Patient Outcomes AJMC.com (09/04/18) Rosenberg, Jaime In 2017, the Medscape Physician Lifestyle Report found that 50 percent of physicians in the United States report signs of burnout, a 4 percent increase from the year before.
