Speaker Bios


Cristina Bentin, CCS-P, COC, CMA

Cristina Bentin, CCS-P, COC, CMA, is president of Coding Compliance Management, LLC, a healthcare consulting company specializing in ASCs with emphasis on business operations assessments, audits, and training. Ms. Bentin is an ASC revenue cycle educator, speaker, and writer with over 25 years of experience in ASC multi-specialty facility  operations. Prior to establishing Coding Compliance Management, LLC, Cristina was CFO of a surgical hospital and participated in its start-up and development. She’s had extensive experience as the education and training manager for a national healthcare corporation, and was directly involved in the continued education of its 200 + ASC facilities nationwide ensuring Medicare and state requirements were met. Cristina’s expertise extends to her involvement in federal fraud investigations to include her role as expert witness. Cristina’s coding lectures include groups such as ASCA and many state ASC associations. Cristina currently serves on the education and programs committee for ASCA. 

Angie Burnette, JD

Angela Burnette focuses her practice on many aspects of health law. She handles health care litigation involving issues such as hospital-physician disputes, hospital licensure and investigation, contract, medical malpractice and peer review, successfully resolving matters at the trial and the appellate level. Ms. Burnette assists hospitals, physicians and other providers with a variety of issues, including those involving medical staff, National Practitioner Data Bank, mental health, surrogate births, minors, duty to warn, do not resuscitate orders, end of life issues and refusal of blood transfusions. She also represents physicians, nurses and other health care providers in state licensing board investigations. Ms. Burnette provides general risk management and compliance advice to health care facilities, providers and health plans. She also advises health care providers and non-health care companies on HIPAA privacy, HIPAA security, and breach notification issues under the HITECH Act and state laws. While at Alston & Bird, she has served as both temporary in-house counsel and as national coordinating counsel for two national health care corporations. She has recently been an invited lecturer at Emory Law School on various health law topics.

Paul Cadorette, CPC, COC, CPC-P, CASCC, COSC

Paul Cadorette is the Director of Educational Services for mdStrategies a Healthcare Consulting Company based in Houston, Texas, that specializes in coding support, auditing and educational training. He is responsible for developing coding training seminars and educational webinars, which have been featured by the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association with a primary focus on ASC coding and has written newsletter articles which have been published in the AAPC’s Coding Edge magazine and Becker’s ASC Review in addition to mdStrategies own monthly coding newsletter. As a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders, Paul has lectured at numerous AAPC state and chapter conferences, multiple state ASC educational conferences, and provided training for many of the industry’s largest Healthcare Corporations.

Beth Chrismer, MSN, RN

Ms. Chrismer has over 37 years experience in the healthcare field as a Registered Nurse.  The most recent 15 years have been spent in Risk Management and Executive Leadership roles at a not-for profit health system in East Texas.  She has been responsible for all aspects of risk and patient safety, work-related injury, occupational medicine, employee health and many clinical areas over the years.  In October of 2014, Ms. Chrismer joined the team at Good Shepherd Ambulatory Surgical Center as the Director of Medical Care Review, a job that encompasses staff education, employee health, risk and safety, medical staff peer review and quality.  Ms. Chrismer has her Master's Degree in Nursing and has been Certified Professional Healthcare Risk Management since 2003.  She also teaches yoga to balance the challenges of healthcare today.

Rebecca Overton-Geise

As a nationally recognized ASC revenue cycle leader, Rebecca has successfully managed all areas of revenue cycle management for more than 15 years, specializing in aggressive pursuit of fair and reasonable reimbursement, managed care contracting, coding and ensuring cash is optimized through proven revenue management methods.

Rebecca began in ASC leadership working as Business Director for two high volume, multi-specialty surgery centers in south Florida for four years. She then spent 4 years working for SurgCenter Development as Director of A/R & Materials.Rebecca then went on to become VP, Revenue Cycle for a surgery center/surgical hospital management company directing a centralized business office for its Clients. In this role, Rebecca managed a CBO staff of more than 40 employees and directed all revenue cycle related processes including: coding, billing, cash applications, A/R management, bad debt, managed care contracting, monthly productivity and financial reports, HIPAA compliance and other related functions.

Currently Rebecca serves as President of NSN Revenue Resources, where she has built an unmatched team with diversified experience, representing both legal and payer side experience as well as ASC coding and billing experience. NSN currently has 60 ASC clients, 115 team members and prides itself on serving its clients through excellence in customer service, reimbursement strategy, company culture and team development.

John Park, JD

John Park represents national and local employers facing allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wrongful discharge arising under all major federal and state employment laws. John focuses on helping clients reach the business result that they want to achieve, and proactively addressing employee issues to minimize exposure to employment litigation.  He is a frequent speaker and published author on a wide range of labor and employment topics and has chaired and moderated panels on whistleblower issues and the implementation of effective compliance programs.  John recently served as a Regional Editor for a national trade-secret/non-compete compendium.

Margie Scalley Vaught, CPC, CPC-H, CPC-I, CCS-P, MCS-P, ACS-EM, ACS-OR

With over 30+ years experience in the Healthcare arena, in positions from nurse’s aide to ward clerk and medical transcriptionist to office manager, Margie understands how offices are structured.  Over twenty of those years were spent in the field of Orthopedics. Margie stays current by attending the annual conventions for BONES, AAPC, MGMA and also the AMAs CPT symposium. She has also provided testimony regarding correct coding issues and compliance in Fraud and Abuse cases.

Joanne Schade-Boyce, MS, BSDH, CPC, ACS

Revenue Cycle Auditor and Consultant as well as an AHIMA Approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer. Ms. Schade-Boyce has over 30 years of experience in healthcare administration with a Master of Science, its focus on Education& Management, from Old Dominion University. Ms. Schade-Boyce has been a lead instructor of educational courses for well over 25 years, as well as an expert in the development of user-friendly training and instructional manuals. Joanne’s areas of expertise include surgical coding, revenue cycle coding audits, on- and off-site surgical coding boot camps, as well as extensive experience natively coding & educating utilizing the ICD-10 coding system. She developed a coding curriculum for Educational Institutions to incorporate ICD-10 education and assisted various educational institutions with the delivery and oversight of various ICD-10 topics. Additionally, she was the creator of an ICD-10-PCS Webinar Series for the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) where she coined the phrase “Mental Gymnastics with Root Operations”. Ms. Schade-Boyce is a nationally recognized speaker and her lectures include groups such as the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association, DecisionHealth, The Board of Medical Specialty Coding, The Coding Institute, Coding Conferences, AHIMA, OPTUM360, and ASC Communications, Inc. In addition to owning her own company, CodeMed Solutions, LLC, Ms. Schade-Boyce is a Senior Auditor, Revenue Cycle Consultant, and ICD-10 Trainer for other prestigious companies, such as FairCode Associates, LLC a consulting firm specializing in clinical documentation improvement strategies, coding audits and education.
