Policy makers need to understand just how important ASCs are in meeting America's health care needs. These advocacy activities are quick, easy and fun and you will be making a difference.

Physician owners, ASC administrators and other ASC staff travel to Washington, DC, for a series of meetings with US Senators and Representatives to advocate on behalf of the ASC community. Progress is currently underway to enact this legislation as soon as possible to ensure that the ASC industry continues to provide quality care with appropriate access to the millions of Medicare patients in need of ASC services.

Write Congress and let them know that ASCs are critical for the future of health care. After you write, encourage others at your facility — doctors, nurses, staff as well as patients and vendors — to write as well.

State ASC Associations are critical for the future of ASCs. ASCA encourages you to get involved with your state ASC association and in strengthening the ASC industry at the state and local level.

Hosting an open house gives ASCs an opportunity to open their doors to the local community and public policy officials. It is a great way to highlight the ways that you give back to your community and to raise awareness of the benefits of ASCs.
