Government Advocacy

ASCA's Government Affairs Department promotes the interests of the ASC community before federal and state legislative, regulatory and executive agencies. By working with state ASC associations and industry leaders, the department is able to identify and analyze critical health policy issues concerning ASCs and acts to enhance and protect the ASC's ability to continue providing high-quality patient care.

The department also works to keep the ASC community alerted and engaged on the most important policy challenges facing ASCs. ASC community involvement is the most powerful tool for shaping and influencing public policy.

Major Government Affairs Department programs include:

    Government Affairs Update

ASCA publishes a weekly e-newsletter to ensure the ASC community stays informed. If you are not receiving ASCA's weekly Government Affairs Update, please contact Danielle Kaster at dkaster@ascassociation.org.

    ASCAPAC

ASCAPAC is ASCA's nonpartisan political action committee. The ASCAPAC is dedicated to electing and supporting strong ASC advocates in Congress so that the ASC community can continue to grow with full government support. For more information, or to get involved, please contact Danielle Kaster at dkaster@ascassociation.org.

    Grassroots Advocacy

Constant contact with your member of Congress is crucial to the success of ASCs. ASCA offers a few programs to help. Twice a year, physician owners, ASC administrators and other ASC staff take part in the ASCA Capitol Fly-ins, traveling to Washington, DC for a series of meetings with US Senators and Representatives to advocate on behalf of the ASC community. ASCA can also help you host your member of Congress at your facility. National ASC Day is August 19th, and is a great opportunity to show your elected representatives your center first-hand. For more information about an upcoming Capitol Fly-In, hosting your member of Congress, taking part in National ASC day or writing your member of Congress please contact Danielle Kaster at dkaster@ascassociation.org.

    State Legislative and Regulatory Tracking

ASCA provides state association leaders with timely tracking and analysis of state legislation and regulations. For information, please contact Alison Legros at alegros@ascassociation.org.
