Safety Program for Ambulatory Surgery - FAQs

What is the goal of this program?
This program is designed to improve teamwork and communication, and promote a culture of safety at out-patient surgery centers. Through enhanced teamwork and communication, we seek to improve patient and staff satisfaction and reduce surgery-site infections and complications.

What is the time commitment?
The total time commitment for the program is approximately 9-11 hours a month, which can be split among several employees, and includes regular team meetings, data collection, educational webinars and activities at your facility.

Will I need to attend every webinar?
We encourage you to attend all webinars at the time they are scheduled. Attending the webinars can be split among different members of the team. However, if you are unable to attend a webinar, they are posted online several days after they occur.

What are the data collecting requirements for the program? How will this data be used?
The facility lead will be responsible for completing a facility demographics report, safety culture assessment and patient satisfaction at the beginning and end of the program, as well as monthly outcome measure reports. The time spent on data reporting is included in the overall time commitment of 9-11 hours per month.
