5 Reasons to Attend ASCA’s Fall Quality Seminar

July 9, 2013

Learn how to get meaningful results and lasting benefits from your ASC's quality program during ASCA's Quality Seminar in Las Vegas, October 9. Get everything you need to jumpstart a new quality program or improve one you already have in place during this full-day program that will help you:

  • develop a culture of accountability;

  • create a QAPI program that works;

  • conduct a root cause analysis on adverse events; and

  • implement a meaningful peer review program.

Consider these five reasons why you should participate:

  1. If you have any role in ensuring quality at your ASC, you will benefit significantly from this program. "Whether you're new to ASC quality, looking to improve in a few specific areas or eager to further develop your understanding of quality, this seminar is for you," says Donna Slosburg, executive director of the ASC Quality Collaboration. "There is no other way to receive so much timely, pertinent and critical information focused on ASC quality in just one day. Attendees are sure to leave Las Vegas with a significantly expanded breadth of knowledge on ASC quality."

  2. Get the most current information and tap into the broad-based experience of some of the top ASC quality and compliance experts. "The presenters live and breathe quality," says Jan Allison, director of accreditation and survey readiness for Surgical Care Affiliates. "We interact frequently with surveyors, and we learn about the different strengths and weaknesses of ASCs throughout the country. Our advice is not just based on our perceptions of what an ASC needs to do but the reality of what's happening in the industry."

  3. Be prepared for accreditors and regulators who will be examining your ASC's quality program more closely in the future. "Quality is such an important issue for ASCs, especially with the quality efforts of ASCs being looked at more stringently by the accrediting and regulatory bodies," says Debra Stinchcomb of Progressive Surgical Solutions. "The program will really help attendees build a strong quality program that will help them improve outcomes while also meeting survey standards."

  4. Take advantage of tremendous networking opportunities. "Attendees will learn from presenters who have seen what works and doesn't work in an ASC, and they will also learn from each other," Slosburg says. "The Quality Seminar provides ample opportunities for attendees to network with industry experts as well as their peers."

  5. Leave Las Vegas with best practices, tools and resources you can use right away! "Not only will attendees receive the tools they need for a robust quality program in their center, they will learn how to use those tools effectively," Allison says.

"The presenters are very focused on providing best practices and takeaways," Slosburg says. "These are proven ideas for quality improvement for attendees to bring back to their ASC that will immediately enhance their program."
