Proposed Changes to Medicare ASC List
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a proposed rule that proposes to add 25 procedures to and delete 100 procedures from the list of services reimbursable by Medicare in an ASC.

FASA’s Second Annual National ASC Open House Day Attracts Interest from Centers Across the Country
The Federated Ambulatory Surgery Association, the nation’s largest organization of ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), today shipped off nearly 2,000 “Open House Tool Kits” to ASCs across the country. Like an “open house in a box,” the tool kits provide centers with all of the materials needed to organize and participate in National ASC Open House Day on October 20.

FASA Issues Statement on FTC/Justice Healthcare Competition Report
The Federated Ambulatory Surgery Association, the nation’s largest association of ASCs, today released a statement in strong support of recommendations made by the Federal Trade Commission and U.S. Justice Department’s antitrust division on healthcare competition.

New FASA President Jack Egnatinsky, MD Takes Office
Jack Egnatinsky, a Virgin Islands anesthesiologist took office as the 14th President of the Federated Ambulatory Surgery Association (FASA) on May 8, 2004. Upon being selected president: Egnatinsky said, “I am so pleased to have been active in FASA during the time it has expanded its membership and its activities on behalf of its members. Our annual meeting has become the pre-eminent educational venue for ambulatory surgery issues. After a major health problem derailed me for a good part of the past year I am so happy to be actively working again to continue to assure that FASA remains the best membership organization representing ASCs in the country and indeed the entire world.”

Hecht Becomes FASA President-Elect
At the Federated Ambulatory Surgery Association’s 30th annual meeting, Allen Hecht, President of Health Resources International, LLC of Hartford, Connecticut became president-elect. As president-elect, Hecht will serve as a member of the association’s executive committee for the next two years.

St. Louis Becomes FASA Secretary
After being elected by the members of the Federated Ambulatory Surgery Association (FASA), Donna St. Louis of Tampa, Florida became FASA’s secretary at its 30th annual meeting in Phoenix. As secretary, St.Louis will participate in leadership of the association as a member of its executive committee.

Sydness Becomes Treasurer of FASA
Alsie Sydness became treasurer of the Federated Ambulatory Surgery Association (FASA) at its 30th annual meeting in Phoenix. A registered nurse from Des Moines, Iowa, Sydness has been involved in the ASC industry since 1976. As treasurer, Sydness will serve on the association’s executive committee.

Industry Founder to Address FASA's Annual Meeting
On May 6th at the Federated Ambulatory Surgery Association’s (FASA’s) annual meeting, ASCs’ contributions to health care over the past three decades will be celebrated.
