Host a Facility Tour

ASCA’s Facility Tour Program offers the opportunity to welcome crucial decision-makers to your surgery center, build relationships with your lawmakers and highlight the impact of ASCs on your patients and the community.

To ensure that ASCA members have the opportunity to educate their members of Congress about the ASC community and any ongoing challenges that impact their ability to provide care, ASCA can help facilitate an in-peron or virtual tours. From contacting a federal office to scheduling a tour to following up with your policymaker’s staff after the tour is finished, ASCA staff are here to help you every step of the way.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is my legislator invited to my ASC?

ASCA staff will reach out to your member of Congress’s scheduling team to invite them on a facility tour and provide updates on the process. If you would like to reach out yourself, ASCA staff will provide a template email and contact information for the office.

My legislator agreed to a visit, how do I prepare?

Once a date and time have been confirmed, discuss the plan internally with your facility staff. Some facilities ask if the legislator would like to observe a case; some provide a simple walk-through of the patient experience and end with a roundtable discussion. There are many ways to host a facility tour, but the main objective is to showcase your surgery center and highlight the care your patients receive.

ASCA staff will send you materials to hand out to the elected official and will go over topics you would like to discuss and your preferred format.

The tour went well, do I have to follow up?

ASCA staff follow up after every tour to thank the member of Congress and their staff for their time, answer any outstanding questions and provide information about the ASC community and the Outpatient Surgery Quality and Access Act of 2023. If you would like to send your own thank you email, ASCA staff will provide a template and contact information.
